Types of Sessions

Solution

Learn about the different Session types.

Sessions

Sessions hold the information about the when/where/who of the Services you provide. Think of them as the folder that holds the logistics and details of your activities.

Different activities require different types of Sessions.  On the OCMS there are (6) types of Sessions that can be created:

(3) Direct Services Sessions – one-on-one

•    Direct Service
•    Direct Service (Job Development)
•    Direct Service (Finance)

(4) Group Sessions

•    Language Training
•    Information & Orientation (I/O) Group Activities (Named & Anonymous)
•    Community Connections (C/C) Group Activities (Named & Anonymous)
•    Employment Group Activity Service Form - Named Clients

Note: Read each Session type below to ensure that you select the correct Session and Service Forms.

Remember: A Session is complete when the Service forms attached to the Session have been completed (forms are highlighted in green).

Direct Service

Direct Service is the Session you select when the interaction with the Client is one to one.  The Client can be Named or Anonymous.  Sometimes there are family members in the room and/or interpreters present.  The only Staff involved is yourself.

In Direct Service Sessions, there are (7) Service Forms can be attached to the Client. To see a list of these forms and how they are used go to Types of Sessions and Service Forms

Direct Services (Job Development)

Direct Services (Job Development) is the Session you select when the interaction with the Client is one to one. Sometimes there are family members in the room and/or interpreters present.  The only Staff involved is yourself.

In Direct Service (Job Development) Sessions, there are (5) Service Forms can be attached to the Client. To see a list of these forms and how they are used go to Types of Sessions and Service Forms

Direct Services (Finance)

Direct Services (Finance) is the Session you select when the interaction with the Client is one to one. Sometimes there are family members in the room and/or interpreters present.  The only Staff involved is yourself.

In Direct Service (Finance) Sessions, only (1) Service Form can be attached to the Client. To see this form and how it is used go to Types of Sessions and Service Forms

Group Sessions

Language Training

Language Training Sessions are for those Agencies who need to record data on Language Courses and Language Training Activities.  Course Codes need to be created by your Agency for these Sessions.

These Sessions collect information on Language Courses such as Enrolled Clients, Teacher and Institution information, Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) levels, and Attendance.

The Language Training Sessions includes (4) Forms; (2) Group Activities added to the Session and (2) for each Enrolled (Named) Client.  To read more about these forms and how they are used go to Types of Sessions and Service Forms

Please Note: Language Training is NOT the same as Language Assessment.  On the OCMS, Language Assessment is an interim Direct Service Form NOT a Language Session.

Information and Orientation (Group)

Information and Orientation (I/O) is the Session you select to record data for Group Activities, Workshops, etc., that includes at least one topic that was covered during the Session.

Note: This Session is identical to the Direct Service Session Information & Orientation Form except it is designed to record data for either Named or Anonymous Groups.

An Information and Orientation (I/O) Session for Named Clients is the regular Group Activity Session

An Information and Orientation (I/O) Session for an Anonymous Group Session is used when you have larger groups of Clients and/or you are recording the number of Clients that attended the Session.  No Client Names are recorded here.

Remember: This Session records the number of Attendees only.  You do not add Attendees to this Session.

Community Connections (Group)

Community Connections Group Sessions are similar to I/O Group Sessions because both Named and Anonymous Sessions can be created.

Community Connections Group Sessions are for Agencies who record data on Community-based Group events and Activities or Targeted matching, networking and workshops for a list of Community events and topics.

Please note: This is NOT the same as the Community Connections Interim Service Form available in Direct Service Sessions.

Employment (Group)

Employment Group Sessions are similar to I/O Group Sessions because both Named and Anonymous Sessions can be created.

Employment Group Sessions are for Agencies who record data on Employment Group events.
